In the Hotel Schloss Waldeck you reside in charming surroundings, shaped by the eventful history of the castle itself and the picturesque ambience of the region on the Edersee. The history of Waldeck Castle began in the 11th century - so it would be many years before it became the Hotel Schloss Waldeck.
Once the headquarters and residence of the Counts of Waldeck, the fortress also served as barracks. In 1734 it was a state penitentiary, later a state archive, forestry office and was used as a hotel as early as 1906. Since 1920 it has belonged to the Waldeckische Domanialverwaltung and is public property.
The castle is located on a steep, rocky and at the same time wooded high mountain on its slopes, on the outskirts of the Waldecker core city (Waldeck district). From here you can enjoy the uniquely beautiful landscape.
